If your Google Nest Thermostat is not receiving power and showing E298 error code, make sure there isn’t a loose wire.
The Nest Thermostat is an intelligent thermostat that responds to your presence.
It automatically adjusts the temperature in your home and saves energy by turning down the heat when you’re at work or out of town.
A few users have reported no power issue – often accompanied by an E298 error code – in their Google Nest.
Check out our guide to fix Google Nest error N260 if that code also shows up.
Google Nest E298 error
If your Nest Thermostat is not receiving power from your HVAC system, it will let you know there’s a problem. A “No power” or “No system power” alert will appear, possibly accompanied by an error code like E298. If the backup batteries continue to lose charge, a “Low battery” or “Very low battery” alert will appear.
If the light on your thermostat is not blinking, if it is unresponsive and won’t turn on, you need to replace the battery in order to power your system.
It could be possible that your thermostat is incorrectly wired. Or perhaps it’s connected to a system that requires a C or common wire, but it doesn’t have one.
Did you check your HVAC system? It could be malfunctioning, preventing it from sending power to the thermostat wires.
If that’s the case, check for wires that appear gray. The wire should be sending voltage to your thermostat. A C or R wire, for instance, powers the thermostat so that it stays on.
If all the wires are gray, you may have to check the power supply. Fix any loose wire.
That’s a wrap. Hopefully, this helps. Thanks for reading!
